At the center of this work is the concept of a narrative, the unfolding story, the moving picture. I believe the idea for this work was inspired by my circle of exceptional women friends. Together we examine our own personal journeys in the unfolding of our lives. Unfolded, the series, constantly reveals itself— expanding and evolving, changing in message and meaning. I have witnessed my work transform from expressing my private perspectives into work that has grown more political, examining the unfolding of relationships in the current environment as well as the need to ask ourselves tough questions. The unfolding nature of this series is a representation of my own emotional discoveries of self, and the viewer is invited into this meditative process. The pieces’ dynamic form and message, combined with their interrogative nature, aim to give the audience insight: all that is yet unknown is still unfolding.
